Spring Cleaning Reminders!
It's
Springtime in Raleigh, and the weather is perfect for those
outside home repairs and improvements. Please remember that
many improvements require pre-approval from the
Architectural Committee. Click
here for applicable forms. Please help keep our
neighborhood beautiful by cutting your lawn and weeding
flower beds when necessary.
Mailbox posts
must be painted white and mailboxes should not show signs of
wear. Approved mailboxes should be solid black, metal or
plastic.
Shutters are
showing signs of fading and should be brought back to the
original color or a color approved by the Architectural
Committee.
Products can be purchased to bring your faded shutters back
to life. Google the subject on the internet for more
information. These products really work and can save money
by not having to replace shutters.
Be sure to
check your warranty information if you are the original
homeowner, as siding and shutters may be replaced under
warranty. Homeowners should contact
Mid-American
Siding, 29797 Beck Road, Wixom, MI 48393;
Phone:800-521-8486; Fax: 888-459-3647. Wendel Siding locally
will handle any actual siding claims.
Windows with broken seals may also be under warranty,
if you are the original homeowner. Contact MI Windows and
Doors, Inc., 650 West Market St., PO Box 370, Gratz,
PA 17030-0370; Attn: Customer Care; Phone: 717-365-2500 or
email:
customercare@miwd.com. You will have to provide proof
that you are the original owner, with a copy of closing
papers or receipt of purchase.
Many homeowners have issues with grass
maintenance where the driveway was "cut out" when originally
poured. If you decide to pour concrete or any other
permanent remedy, you MUST obtain pre-approval from the
Architectural Committee. Other remedies, i.e., rock, pavers,
etc., need not be pre-approved.
Thank you for your efforts in maintaining our lovely
neighborhood!

Neighbors Helping
Neighbors
Saturday,
April 23, 2011: Avington Place neighbors joined together
this weekend in an effort to help our neighbors affected by
the recent tornadoes. The Homeowners Association held a food
and clothing drive at the pond, and residents were asked to
drop off clothing and non-perishable food items.
The Helping Hand Mission sent a truck to pick up the
items. Thanks to Don Owens for volunteering to take the
overage to the Mission, and a big thank you to
Kathleen Kempinger for turning an idea into a great service
for the communities.
We donated clothing, shoes, furniture, toys, food, paper
towels, plates, dishes, toiletries, toilet tissue, books,
toothpaste and toothbrushes, food and many other essential
items to those in need. On Thursday, we delivered boxes of
hardhats, safety vests and tee shirts to the
First Alliance Church
on Buffaloe Road, which was organizing crews to assist the
City of Raleigh in their clean-up efforts. These supplies
were donated by a local business who wished to remain
anonymous.

While Avington Place suffered little damage from the storms,
our neighbors were hit hard. We were grateful and honored to
do our part to reach out and help those in need. Thank you
to all of you who made donations.
